Road Trip USA: Tilghman Island, Maryland
Next stop: Maryland, for 6 days of sports, sports, sports. My family can’t manage to actually relax when we’re on vacation. It was a week with the couples in my family, which means Lauren and Ross couldn’t be there. A triple date on Tilghman Island. As Ryan put it in a description to Dan, “Picture everything cool about an island. Now strip that away. That’s Tilghman.” He meant the usual things that draw people to islands – the beach, waves, a main street, ice cream shops – none of which Tilghman had. But! It did have a local elementary school with all of the sports fields and courts that we needed. So, after driving 2 hours to the Eastern Shore we spent most of our time at school. We did get some yummy seafood in and spent some time bird-watching and kayaking around the island.
Dan and I sped into Maryland from Boston in order to surprise Ryan at his hockey game. From there we joined Jamie in D.C. for our first tour of the Senate and Capitol building and then packed our cars with sports equipment. We ended up not bringing enough. Here are the older kids in the family playing around during a hot Memorial weekend. Awesome awesome stop on our way to Seattle!

looks like a very active weekend!! good thing you spent the next few days just sitting for 12 hours!
super fun shots. my faves are both of ryan – walking into the water, and getting hit by the water. and i also like dan in the lily pads! what fuN!
Great shots – I’m so sad that that weekend is over, it will definitely go down as one of my top 2012 weekends.
soooo beautiful!!!!
I love the shape of Ryan’s shadow in the basketball jump. Great to see all of you having fun together.
